- 40mm insulated panels
- Full perimeter weather seals
- Glazed panel options
A sectional garage door lifts in hinged panels and runs back along the ceiling. It is the standard door on the newer Kempton Park housing, and it is also the door we most often recommend to households living under the approach, because a well-sealed insulated sectional does more for noise than anything else on the list.
Sectional garage doors we supply in Kempton Park
- Steel sectional doors in ribbed, panelled and flush profiles.
- Insulated sectional doors with a foam core, for temperature and for noise.
- Aluminium and glazed sections where the door is part of the elevation.
- Timber-look finishes for the appearance without the maintenance.
Sealing, and why it matters under a flight path
A sectional door seals against the frame all the way round, which is what makes it the best-performing door type for noise. Through Bonaero Park, Rhodesfield and Aston Manor, an insulated sectional with full perimeter seals noticeably reduces what comes into a converted garage or a room behind it. The seals do as much work as the insulation, and a door with a gap under it undoes both.
Insulated sectional doors
An insulated door is stiffer, quieter in its own operation and far better where the garage is a workshop, a gym, an office or a flatlet. In this town the noise argument usually carries more weight than the temperature one, and both are real.
Headroom, side room and square openings
A standard sectional door needs around three hundred millimetres above the opening, clear space each side for the tracks, and a reasonably true reveal. On the older housing the reveal is frequently out by enough to make a rigid door bind, and we measure top, middle and bottom and recommend a shutter where that is the honest answer.
Quiet operation for shift households
Where the garage shares a wall with a bedroom and somebody sleeps during the day, we fit a belt-drive operator with soft start and stop, insulated panels for rigidity, and we set the travel speed down. The difference between that and a chain drive on a single-skin door is substantial.
Springs, balance and safety
A sectional door is balanced by torsion assemblies, and that balance is what protects the motor. On a high-use household door we fit a higher cycle rating, because the standard rating is calculated on a family that opens the door four times a day rather than ten.
Replacing a tip-up door with a sectional
Common Kempton Park work. The old frame usually stays, the tracks are new, and the opening is measured as it is rather than as the plan says. We remove and dispose of the old door as part of the job.
What a sectional garage door costs in Kempton Park
Priced on width and height, panel type, insulation, finish and automation. Single and double doors are quoted separately because the balance and operator specification changes with the mass.
Common questions
About sectional garage doors
Around 300mm to 450mm of clear space above the lintel for a standard track, though low-headroom kits recover part of that. Measure to the ceiling or the nearest beam, whichever is lower, and send us the figure before you order anything.
The panels are hinged and run on rollers in a track rather than curling around a barrel, and the section joints seal against each other. On an insulated door the foam core also damps the drumming that makes a single-skin door boom.
Yes. Glazed panels can go into any section, most often the second row down so daylight comes in at eye level. Toughened, frosted and tinted glass are all available, and an aluminium-framed full-view door is a step further again.
They have more moving parts than a tip-up door — rollers, hinges, cables and springs — so an annual service matters more. In exchange the wear is spread across many small parts that are cheap to replace individually.
